MEET SHAY DWYER
With a style best described as “vampire meets Lisa Frank,” Shay Dwyer brings a bold, offbeat presence to the world of tattooing. Growing up surrounded by bikers and construction workers, Shay always knew they’d become a tattoo artist—and they’ve followed that path with fearless creativity from the start.
They completed a traditional two-year apprenticeship at Suited Devils Ink in West Warwick, RI, finishing just before the pandemic hit in 2019. Since then, Shay has gained national recognition, earning placements at tattoo conventions across the country and being featured twice in Tattoo Industry Magazine and once in Skin Art Magazine.
Shay’s work leans toward neo-traditional color and bold blackwork, marked by high contrast, rich detail, and a love for the creepy, the silly, and the ultra-feminine. From vibrant realism to dark whimsy, each tattoo carries their signature blend of boldness and originality. Their intuitive process means drawing straight from imagination—shaping the tattoo in their head as they go, with loose stencils that come to life in the final composition.
Outside the studio, Shay’s creativity takes many forms: making oddities, practicing taxidermy, reworking clothing, and crafting personal gifts. They still burn custom CDs, and drawing daily is a non-negotiable ritual—fueling the flow of ideas and keeping their artistic momentum strong.
Rooted in nostalgia, darkness, and music more than anything else, Shay’s work reflects a unique lens—resisting labels and embracing instinct. Each tattoo is a reflection of their ever-evolving, vibrant perspective.
Book a consultation with Shay Dwyer and step into a world where the eerie meets the enchanting. Whether your idea is haunting, hilarious, or beautifully bizarre, Shay will bring it to life with their signature dark-meets-vibrant style.
