Shannon Young has always dreamed of becoming a tattoo artist, even though the path wasn’t always perfectly clear. A lifelong artist and art major, she earned a scholarship in architectural drafting and design at New England Institute of Technology (NEIT), where she spent over a decade refining her design skills. Despite her success, she always had a passion for tattos and when the opportunity to apprentice at a tattoo shop arose, she seized it with determination.

She began her training at the former RI Tattoo Co in Johnston, Rhode Island, and feels fortunate to have completed her apprenticeship under the guidance of Paul Burrows at Ruthless Ink. Her grandmother, Concetta Ruggieri has always been her greatest influence, inspiring her lifelong love for art.

Shannon’s style is both symbolic and illustrative. She draws on various other art forms and styles that all influencer her work, including surrealism, design, fashion, and particularly how art and design complement the human form.

Her tattoo process is highly collaborative. She always prefers to work closely with clients to customize their designs, ensuring each piece is tailored to their vision and body placement.

Shannon’s love for art extends beyond tattooing and into painting, interior design, and creating wooden sigil pieces. Her fascination with astrology and tarot often finds its way into her tattoo designs, adding a unique layer of symbolism.
